#STOPCHILDLABOR

Innocent, pitiful and voiceless. These are the words that you can associate when it comes to the life of young children wherein they are force to work because the needs of their families are not enough. They exchange their freedom, happiness and education for them to live.

I've realized many things from our recent activity. I felt so lucky compared to them. They cannot express their feelings because people just ignoring the situation they experiencing. If I'm going to put myself in their shoes, probably I will also feel hopeless.

All of us should make an action, all of us can do something. Fight for them and for their rights. Children are also part of our society so protect them from the cruel hand of this issue. We should STOP CHILD LABOR!

IDIOMS ABOUT KNOWLEDGE

Pick his/someone's brain
  • Before we do our project, we consult and pick someone's brain to make our work better.
Two heads are better than one
  • In a group work, teamwork is very important. We all know that two heads are better than one.
Under one's belt
  • Anna can't do her assignment about chemistry, she needs some help under one's belt.
Know something backwards and forwards
  • I know something backwards and forwards about making a handicraft.
Can't make heads or tails of it
  • Jane's way of teaching is really fast. That's why when it comes to their lessons, her students can't make heads or tails of it.

                                                           QUIZ BEE
“No matter what happen, I’ll fully accept it.” I nodded and faked the curve on my face. I was carried away by that time because I really felt nervous. The whole basketball court was filled because of those contestants who were ready to blow their knowledge about history. I heard different voices, some were excited and some were tensed. These voices continued to go through my ears then suddenly, my mood changed so quickly and as the result, I felt unconscious.
After that, my trainer had been reviewing me until she gave me a signal because it is already our turn. I sat on the last row. My mind was like an empty tin can that was floated on water. The contest followed the flow properly. Easy, average and difficult level were done. I couldn't believe it that I made it to the clincher round. On the last question, I admitted to myself that my answer was just a guess. But boom! I won the History quiz bee. Isn't it great?

Although I felt hopeless during the contest, the feeling turned into something that I couldn't explain. I achieved being a champion which was my goal since that time. It gave me a lesson, it taught me that in every situation you must do your best and you also have to exert efforts in order to achieve your goal. I reached the finish line of one of my dreams and I’m so grateful.

                                                    SORRY, I CHEATED

My friends’ loud and lively voice came to my way, while others secretly murmured as they went inside our filthy, hot classroom. I could hear my heart pounding as I slowly entered in our classroom, then suddenly our teacher with her hoarse throat surprised everyone. “Okay class, get one whole sheet of paper,” Our teacher instructed. I was really shocked, for I forgot that we have a test, not just a simple test but a very difficult one. “What will I do now?” I thought to myself. My hand was shaking when I wrote my name.
Hand by hand, they passed the test papers quietly. But before I received the warm photocopied paper, our teacher added these words, “cheating is not allowed!” My eyes widened, I looked around and noticed that they started answering the test. Sweat ran on my face, obviously I was really nervous. Am I going to cheat or should I accept the consequence that I’m going to fail this exam?
I opened my notes and got my answers through this way. There was no choice, I decided to cheat even though I know that this idea was a bad thing. I put myself in an uncertain condition. I felt disappointed, everybody knows that it is wrong to cheat but I did. “Sorry, I cheated.” Then I sighed.
Cheating will be the result if you will not study before a test. I learned a lot from this situation. “This is embarrassing. From now on, I will study harder.” I promised to myself. I will always think of this saying, “Honesty is the best policy.”

Oh My FIRST!

Great opportunities come unexpectedly. English Access Microscholarship Program opened the door for students like us. I am so proud that our school, Navotas National Highschool, was the chosen beneficiary of this scholarship program. Actually, this scholarship was not totally intended for our batch (Class 2014-2015). I can say that, this is "one in a million" chance for us.

We have to study hard and we need to take the responsibilities as a student and also as a scholar to prove that we deserve this program which given to us. Together we will achieve our dreams in our life by helping and uplifting each other. SOAR HIGH, ACCESS SCHOLARS!

Keep inspiring others. Thank you so much for this wonderful gift. We will surely treasure it!
